A Cosy Space Designed for Discovery
Located safely within the Gairloch Primary School building, our dedicated playroom is a warm, bustling hub of creativity and learning. We carefully arrange our space every day to ensure that children of all ages have a safe, exciting place to explore.
- 🏃♂️ Indoor Active Play: Rain or shine, we make sure the children can let off steam. Our indoor climbing frame is up all the time, and we frequently set up tunnels and balance beams right in the room, alongside active singing and dancing sessions.
- 🎨 Dedicated Messy Play & Snack Area: We have a permanent space set up for sensory exploration. Whether it’s regular painting, sand and water play, mixing “gloop”, or track-painting with toy cars, your child will have total freedom to get creative (if they want to – we never force a child who prefers not to get messy!).
- 📚 The Cosy Reading Corner: Reading is a massive favourite at Toybox. We feature a comfy settee and soft cushions where children can curl up quietly, listen to storytelling, or look through books at their own pace.
A Safe Haven for Babies
We are fully equipped to look after up to four babies (from 6 months) and younger toddlers at any one time, ensuring they get quiet, focused, and highly experienced care.
- 👶 The Baby Zone: We feature a dedicated area just for babies, including an extra-large playpen, protective floor mats, and a curated “treasure basket” filled with open-ended, age-appropriate toys to stimulate their senses.
- 💤 Cosy, Familiar Naps: To make the most of our playroom space and keep routines feeling just like home, our babies sleep comfortably in prams. You are more than welcome to bring your child’s own familiar pram from home so they feel entirely secure.
Stepping Outside & Growing Together
Being located right next to the Gairloch Primary School and Nursery is a wonderful advantage for our children’s social development.
- 🌳 Our Outdoor Space: We have a small, dedicated outdoor area right outside our doors, complete with a large gazebo to provide shaded play on sunny days.
- 🤝 Natural Transitions: Because we share a space with the school, our children naturally chat and wave to the nursery and primary school children outside. This close relationship makes the eventual transition to big nursery and school incredibly smooth and completely pressure-free.

Big Adventures in Wester Ross
We believe in learning through the world around us. Whenever numbers and the Highland weather permit, we pack our bags and take our learning out into the community!
- ⚽ The Sports Field: We regularly take the children out to the sports field for energetic games, outdoor races, and space to run free.
- 🚶♂️ Community Walks: The children love our local walks! It is a fantastic way for them to learn about the space around them, wave to friendly neighbours, and practise their counting by spotting local birds and flowers.
- 🏰 The School Gym & Leisure Centre: Every Thursday, we get to use the big school gym hall for large-scale physical play. Even better, during the holidays, we have special access to use the local Leisure Centre completely free of charge, giving the children an amazing change of scenery.
